Operation Christmas Child Update

by NSUMC on November 22, 2009

On October 14, the children and adults of New Street packaged shoe box sided containers with gifts for children through out the world who have experienced poverty, war and nature disasters.  Our goal was to collect gifts, containers and package the containers for 30.  We doubled our efforts by providing gifts for 63 boxes!  Diane and Jim Price, delivered our gift containers to the designated drop off place during the week of November 16.  We also were able to give $441.00 to help defray the cost of shipping the gifts.  This $441.00 donation was raised through the Peach Festival in August and the September Giving Box.   Through “Operation Christmas Child” we are giving hope to children who have very little.  “Operation Christmas Child” is a mission project of Samaritan’s Purse.  For more information on “Operation Christmas Child” and Samaritan’s Purse go to the Samaritan’s Purse website.

Thanks goes to Jim & Diane Price for delivering the gifts and organizing this church wide project, to all who contributed containers, gifts and time to package & wrap the containers, the Children’s Sunday School, Peach Festival, and all who participated in some way toward making this project a success!
