Help Youth “Buy A Cow”: During Teen Week, the 20 youth were inspired to give the gift of a cow through Heifer International to an impoverished family in Africa, Asia, or South America. This gift will not only uplift a family but a whole community. The youth’s mission is to educate and fundraise for the $500 so they can gift a cow. Watch for more details on educational/fundraising events. If you would like to donate to this Teen Week project write your checks to New Street UMC and write COW PROJECT in the memo. For more information see youth who went to Teen Week: Sam Corum, Jordan Dixon-Gross, Maya Dixon-Gross, Eva Smith or Pastor Dee-Ann.
Pastor Parish Relations Committee (PPRC) will be offering a CPR class today from 2-6 pm in the Fellowship Hall. We do encourage all who work with youth to take this class. There will not be a charge for the class but there will be a cost of $20 for the CPR card that will be payable at the time of class.

New Street UMC Homecoming – Sunday, October 29, 2017
New Street United Methodist Church will celebrate over 160 year anniversary Sunday, October 29th with a special worship service and catered lunch. We will celebrate our past, present and future! There will be an updated history of New Street UMC available along with a slide show! Old friends will return and there will be time to reconnect with one another. It is also a great time to share the renovations and updates we have done to our building with the community.
To make this happen we will need your financial help. We are asking you to consider purchasing a ‘piece of cake’ for $20 which will be used toward the catered lunch. The estimated expenses for the event are around $3,000. We already help have from some of our fundraisers. If you are able to donation to our 150th Anniversary Celebration, kindly put your donation of cash or check in the SPECIAL OFFERING BOX . Checks can be made to NSUMC with Homecoming in memo. Thank you for your continued support! Our donation box will be in the sanctuary.
On Sunday, September 24th, during the worship service, we will be recognizing the staff of New Street UMC. Pastor-Parish Relations Committee (PPRC) is sponsoring this day of appreciation to celebrate the ministries and hard work of our church staff. We will be recognizing Helen Miller, our Administrative Assistant; Nancy Cleaver, our Music Director; Rose Gamblin, our Organist/Pianist; Wendy Maddox, our Custodian; and Lizzie Lowe, our Treasurer. Please be sure to join us as we show our appreciation for these wonderful folks.
Pastor Appreciation is Sunday October 8th. This is a wonderful opportunity to say Thank- You to Pastor Dee-Ann for being there for all of us and providing her time and dedication to the spiritual guidance and leadership we all need through-out the year. The Pastor Parish Relations Committee (PPRC) will be putting together a CARD BASKET from the congregation to present to Pastor on this day. We would like you to provide a card that will express your appreciation of Pastor Dee-Ann. You could include a personal note of encouragement for the pastor or relay a particular sermon that she gave that may have had an impact on you or your family or you may include something personal that she did that meant so much to you. Try to provide specific reasons you appreciate Pastor Dee-Ann’s spiritual leadership, dedication, time and commitment. There will be a box in the Narthex during the month of September for you to drop off your sealed cards when you come to church each Sunday. PPRC will collect the cards on October 1st to prepare the basket. We will also be giving Pastor Dee-Ann a “special gift”. If you would like to contribute to that gift, you may place your donations in the box as well.
